ABOUT COW

Since the fall of 2003, The COW Project has created a safe place for young people to find their unique voices and make positive change in their lives and in the world through creative expression, community service and activism on the local, state, and global levels. Using the creative arts (music, dance, theater, film, art, spoken word), teens create original multi-media performances and workshops that impact positive social and personal change – encouraging respect, acceptance, friendship, leadership, self-expression and vision.
Through community service projects and activism, COW members improve their own lives as they touch and inspire others through compassionate listening, creative teamwork, and proactive leadership.

Together, we are changing our world!

COW is a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit

Thank you to Walmart Logo.jpgStar.jpg for supporting the COW Project in creating our new multi-media production and inter-active audience workshop, which will debut in early 2012. “Dreams and Diversity: Keeping it Real” will be presented to various schools in the South Jersey region and will be available for corporate trainings and other community events. In support of the new 25-page mandate on Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB) for all New Jersey public schools, COW is taking a pro-active stand to educate their peers and communities about the impact of toxic attitudes and behavior.

Together, we are changing our world.

The 2011 Super Bowl HELPING HANDS HOAGIE FUNDRAISER was held in Honor of DEREK SCHNAPP and TAYLOR BUONADONNA, two amazing Washington Township High School students we will always remember. $30,000 in proceeds from the 2011 event benefitted local families and children with medical crises, including Jennifer DeNobile, a beautiful young woman and mother, who our community sadly lost. All of these recipients are heroes, as they deal with their life-threatening challenges, and remind us to cherish what is most important – our families and friends and community.

CONGRATULATIONS to EMILY BANKS of Franklinville, NJ whose original song, “What Happens Next” won the 2010 “Write a Song 4 Social Change” teen songwriting contest. Chosen out of 9 song finalists by a panel of judges and audience vote, Emily’s song was produced at Robert Wynn Productions in Gloucester Township, NJ.

See the final music video for the winning song here.

Thank you to Target logo jpg.jpg
for being a sponsor of the songwriting contest and for supporting the production of the COW Project’s 2010 original multi-media performance, “One Life at a Time.”
The COW Project performed “One Life At a Time for 6th-8th grade students at Hainesport School in May 2010. In response to bullying and bias issues that the new superintendent /principal witnessed at the school, COW was invited to share their message of acceptance, respect and tolerance in their multi-media presentation that combined skits, spoken word, story-telling, dance, songs and film. Following the performance, COW conducted a Q&A session with the audience, during which time many of the Hainesport students publicly apologized to their classmates for bullying, teasing and humiliating them in the past, and made promises to treat one another with respect and acceptance. Students also completed surveys, offering stellar feedback about the COW presentation and acknowledging that their eyes and hearts were opened from this experience. COW has been invited back to Hainesport School to perform the same show for parents and school staff in spring 2012. In addition, COW performed for their own student body at Washington Township High School in September and October 2010, with rave reviews from both their peers and faculty.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In April 2010, the COW Project was honored to receive the 2010 School Award for their 'tireless effort and dedication in the field of bias intimidation' from the prestigious New Jersey Bias Crime Officers Association of N.J., with a beautiful plaque to be displayed in Washington Township High School.
